021 210608 - The Colonel’s Secret Recipe

21/365

So, after too much time on GT5, we trekked into town. Just as we hit the cross-road by KFC, the army arrives in town. Perhaps they went for some shopping, we don’t know, but we do know that they brought a marching band with them. Which was nice. I love Southampton for random stuff like this. There’s pretty much always something cool going on in the centre on a Saturday.

I love about this shot that the Colonel seems to be presiding over the whole thing. That juxtaposition was entirely intentional. Promise.

020 200608 - Why we don’t miss beefburgers

20/365

Charlotte makes awesome burgers. These are relatively tame, we’ve been known to have egg and sausage as well but that’s a bit too much effort for a Friday night - as is wandering around in the rain looking for photos!

I might not be able to get on board with their ideals, but they sure know how to build things. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a Catholic Church that I don’t like, and this is no exception. The black and white had to be done because the sky is just awful at the moment.

Went to meet Charlotte from work and there’s this cool-looking door set back from the road.

On a different note, I need to get Wordpress to stop desaturating my images when I upload them, it’s bloody annoying!

I’m so tired, I can only muster energy to walk to the garden. I like daisies, though.

My girl knows I want to play MGS4 tonight (although sitting watching rubbish on TV is just as inviting a concept) so she drew a tache on her finger and let me take pictures of her being silly. This doesn’t happen often so I’ve fully taken advantage. Look at those big eyes!

I’ve never done any HDR before, but this kinda called for it - dull grey sky almost impossible to expose correctly and keep the foregound nice and light. I think it’s come out really well, and it’s an impressive building with lots of photographic opportunity. I’m sure it’ll be revisited on quiet days!

Can’t spend all day taking photos, Metal Gear Solid 4 is calling me.

014 140608 - My Girls

Let me tell you right now, clipping the claws of rabbits is a painful business. That having been said, they’ve been so good tonight. I don’t know whether they’re grateful or whether they just don’t want us to be mean to them again. Either way, it’s been nice. Rabbits are awesome pets.

I entered one of my photos in an arbitrary forum-based photography competition. The theme fit so well with what I’ve been doing this week, I couldn’t not enter. I don’t care about or expect to do well, but who knows - some validation is always nice. It could, however, go either way!

On a totally unrelated note, the film 25th Hour is very good, if you watch it, don’t be surprised if the end makes you feel like you wasted 2 hours.

013 130608 - The Washing-up

Seems like I spent all evening doing the washing-up this evening. At least I got pizza and ice-cream out of it, though! Awesome.

Tonight’s photographic festivities are brought to you by three of my favourite activities; taking photos, having Charlotte cook for me and eating the food that Charlotte cooks for me (I put some of the wings on, too!).

I really love food photography, but I’m personally of the opinion that the person taking the photo isn’t really the artist - the person doing the cooking is. That having been said, I love the photography on Jamie at Home and the Marks and Spencer adverts, so I thought I’d give it a go. I love food and I really like this shot, so I might do more of this!
