Take a look at a selection of my favourite work. Anything from tasteful, unobtrusive Javascript effects to server-side behemoths tamed with AJAX, it's all here. Remember to contact me if you want a piece of the action.
James Marshall is an amazing graphic designer, specialising in web, print and corporate identity. After one look at his portfolio, we all had grand ideas about how it was going to work, and it came out just right; I've always wanted to do a horizontal-scrolling site!
When you land on James' site, all of his portfolio displays are closed. Hovering over thumbnails gives a nice flashy white border.
Clicking on the thumbnail loads the rest of the images and a bit of information on this project. You're also given the next thumbnail in the series to repeat until you've viewed all the available content
To conserve space (people aren't really used to horizontal scrolling sites yet!), you can close down the individual items to just the thumbnail.
Once you've viewed all of James' awesome work, you can view his contact details and get him to do some work for you. Go on!

do1 is a Portsmouth-based web design and digital agency. When the client is also the designer, everything has to be spot-on. Some of my favourite parts of the site are the defining visual elements:
do1 are proud of their Portsmouth heritage, which is why photographer James Marshall was tasked with taking some defining photos of Portsmouth and its distinctive architecture.
The fixed navigation provides easy and obvious access to the main areas of the site.
The blog integration allows a frequently-updating homepage, as well as the ability to advertise newly completed sites. The excellently-documented WordPress allowed for tighter integration with the overall look and feel of the site.
This is my favourite part. We all got our heads together to decide the order of animation and get it just right. I then got to dive right in to my new friend mootools to make for a really distinctive portfolio.
Once opened, you're presented with a small description of the services provided to the client, as well as the ability to cycle through the other images associated with the project.
Cycling through the images.

Platinum Training Solutions is a business training company focused on creating driven, motivated professionals who are equipped to make loads of cash on the internet!
Platinum Training Solutions get loads of business from referrals. It was getting to the point where they needed an easy way to manage referrals and payment of commission, so we sorted them out!
All referred sales are entered onto the commission tracker, and commission is automatically calculated based on the percentage of commission allocated to each affiliate.
Each week, the commission for the last week is calculated and PDF invoices are generated and hosted on the commission tracker for easy access by affiliates and site admins.
Administrators have the ability to add/remove/edit the different types of users. Each page of users and user type filtering is done with my favourite jQuery AJAX library.
There are more options than I thought there would be for affiliate users! Administrators can add commission holiday periods, clients who are automatically associated and account managers responsible for sales. This really allowed me to get my teeth into some lovely database design, which I don't get to do as often as I like.
Logging in to the commission tracker is possible from a nice slidey panel on the corporate website

Patersons is an international HR & Payroll Application Service Provider with offices in the USA, England, France and Singapore. They're taking on massive clients (who I'm not allowed to talk about!) and growing all the time.
The landing page for the community is a hub for all activity, advertising the latest competitions and forum posts it is designed to draw users in and keep them there.
The forum is a knowledge share for HR & Payroll specialists throughout the globe. Being the giant subjects that they are, the more people who are talking about them, the more manageable they become—this is exactly what Patersons aimed to achieve.
Based on selected publications in the Marketplace, frequent competitions are hosted to encourage repeat visitors to the community. The competitions, entry dates, entrants and questions are all managed and reported on from a control panel
The Marketplace is an affiliates' bookstore containing hand–picked literature on HR & Payroll. This is all managed via a seamless control panel where the display order, thumbnail images and more can be added to each book.
Patersons hosts regular seminars to delve into important changes in the world of International HR & Payroll, as well as presenting in–depth tutorials and forums to spread their expertise on these complex subjects. The Meeting Room is used to organise and notify users of up–coming seminars, as well as showing audio and text transcripts of past forums.
The Global Network is a knowledge base containing information peculiar to each country. Updated on a regular basis through an easy-to-use control panel, it allows administrators to keep the content fresh with new links and information about HR & Payroll in every country supported.
Each country is easily accessible from the carefully designed system of menus.

Wolseley is a FTSE Top 100, international group of construction merchants. I was based at their UK head office in Leamington Spa to work on the team responsible for designing and building their new Intranet.
Sadly, I lost my screenshots of the Intranet in a dead hard drive! It was to be a migration from the first iteration of the company's Intranet, but for all intents and purposes, it was brand new.
The CMS was designed to facilitate multiple instances for different countries, a document manager, knowledge base, time manager and department specific documentation on procedures and protocols. It is managed internally by appointed moderators and administrators, with training sessions that I assisted in writing.
Intranet for Wolseley people only. I'm not even allowed to look anymore!
